While I mourn PUBG ban, here are top gadgets that helped kill my lockdown boredom

This post, I am writing because of the utter upsetting nature of the news that I received two days ago. My very beloved sister – a journalist – called me up and said – PUBG just got banned! And I could hear the ringing laughter in her voice – the kind of annoying laughter that only your elder sibling has.

While she was doing her little dance on my gaming being hit by the government, I was thinking of how PUBG was a saviour all these months while we were arrested at homes in a lockdown.

It was March, this year – and as I was waiting for another day to dawn – a regular, boring, ordinary day to hit us ordinary beings. But on the eve of March 25, everyone including me received a piece of news that was perhaps the first in the lives of crores of people in the country – A nationwide lockdown owing to a pandemic we never thought would touch our lives. Uncertain of what coming days will have, the thought of not being able to step out of the house and getting bored was intimidating, unnerving and disheartening.

To my relief, I had various gadgets that I have bought in the near past but didn’t have the time to explore. But 15 days into the lockdown, I decided now was the best time to get along with these pieces of technology.

So, here are the top 5 gadgets, that helped me kill my boredom:

1) Amazon Alexa Echo Dot: This mini smart speaker is one of the best things from Amazon. Talking to Alexa is fun. Whether for switching on lights, or the television, looking for Covid19 related updates or a song to take my blues away, I just needed to ask Alexa and everything was there in a flash (of course internet required).

2) Samsung Galaxy Watch: No training, no sports, not going out – I sure did put up some pounds but how many calories can you gorge on without tracking? And then, tracking daily activities suddenly seemed fun – footsteps, monitoring heartbeat and well, various other exercises too!

3) Realme Buds Air: Another gadget that helped me encounter dull and boring times is the truly wireless earbuds by Realme. It feels light while plugged in with great in-ear comfort. Crystal clear sound, very low latency, dynamic bass, punch helped to uplift the mood – and one-fourth of what Apple iPods would have cost.

4) Amkette Trigger for PubG Game: I am shedding silent tears for this one – since the time PUBG Mobile got launched, the buzz that followed it was unparalleled. I have been playing the game for a long time and got to know about this little gadget. The trigger is very helpful for those who like to play games using a joystick (Use of 4 fingers). It helps the user to improve their movements and controls while playing the game.

5) Air Fryer: Luckily, I got this delivered to my doorstep just a day before the lockdown began. This portable kitchen gadget came really handy – me being a big fan of frozen food items. But it was a pain to light the wok, pour oil, wait for it to get heated and the most difficult task was to step into the kitchen to do so. But with this one – just load the bucket of air fryer, set the time and tadaaa … I can’t tell you the feeling of binging on oil-free snacks. P.S. This is not a paid promotion. I haven’t been paid since the lockdown took jobs away!
