Locked inside houses during the lockdown, what do you miss the most? Eating at a favourite restaurant, travelling to a new destination, swimming in a pool, meal at a five-star hotel, sutta break with your friends or shopping at your favourite store.
All of us have must have said during the lockdown “bus ek baar yaha se nikal ke Goa ka beach dekhna hai”, “Main toh trekking ke liye mari jaa rahi hoon”, “Maa kasam is baar seher ke sare restaurant khaali kar dena hai”.
I had similar thoughts. My YouTube search history is full of travel and food videos. But somehow I wasn’t enjoying it at all. It used to be heartbreaking as I had tonnes of content to see and never-ending food to eat. Maybe it was because as I wasn’t experiencing it physically. I couldn’t feel the breeze or experience the joy of visiting my favourite joint.
But it was days later I realised that it was the memories I made with people I miss the most. Travel, food, office, movies, shopping with people I truly love and enjoy being with. But none of them were available. Unlike me, each one of them was fighting a war. They were battling to save the lives of their loved ones. Some scrambling for oxygen, some posting request for hospital beds, while some sharing their harrowing experience of waiting at cremation grounds.
This unlock is coming at a huge price, which most of us have paid with the loss of family, friends, neighbour or colleague. I am dying to make my life normal and get back to travel and food but life won’t be easy again. We can’t risk others at the cost of our fun. I will be wearing a double mask and carrying a bottle of sanitiser where I go. Don’t you dare to miss yours.
