From Idlis to Ancient Temples: Bangalore to Hampi Family Expedition

As the sun began to rise, casting a warm glow over the city of Bangalore, our family of 10 embarked on an exciting adventure to Hampi. With three senior citizens and kids among us, we planned meticulously to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable trip for everyone.

To avoid the notorious traffic of Bangalore, we set off at the crack of dawn, at 7 am. The empty streets and cool morning breeze welcomed us as we left the bustling city behind. With the roads free from congestion, we made swift progress and soon found ourselves on the outskirts of Bangalore, leaving the urban landscape behind.

The drive to Hampi is about 340 kilometers, and it takes about 6 hours. The first few hours of the drive were pretty uneventful, but as we got closer to Hampi, the scenery became more and more beautiful. We drove past rolling hills, lush green forests, and even a few windmills.

As the sun rose higher, our stomachs started to rumble with hunger, and it was the perfect time for a breakfast break. We stopped at a quaint little eatery known for its delicious South Indian delicacies. The aroma of piping hot idli, vada, dosa, and the tempting aroma of filter coffee welcomed us. It was a delightful treat and worth every penny. The kids especially relished the crispy dosas and couldn’t get enough of the fluffy idlis.

With our bellies full and hearts content, we continued our journey towards Hampi. The road ahead was a true marvel, surrounded by picturesque landscapes that left us in awe. The windmills standing tall and proud on one side of the road added a touch of modernity, while the scenic hills running parallel to the road gave us a glimpse of nature’s grandeur.

The senior members of the family settled comfortably in the car’s backseats, reminiscing about their younger days and sharing old stories that kept the kids entertained as well. Meanwhile, the rest of us sat in the middle seats, creating a small picnic-like setup. We had brought along a bag full of home-cooked snacks, ranging from crispy samosas to scrumptious sandwiches, all prepared with love by our wonderful mothers.

As the wheels rolled on, we played some classic Bollywood tunes that took us on a nostalgic trip down memory lane. The whole car resonated with joyous melodies, and even the seniors couldn’t resist tapping their feet to the beats. We sang our hearts out and enjoyed some impromptu dance moves, creating unforgettable memories along the way.

The journey was peppered with interesting discussions about the historical significance of Hampi, which we had planned to explore in the next leg of our trip. The kids were excited about visiting the ancient ruins, while the seniors looked forward to revisiting the temples and structures they had seen in their youth.

As we approached the final stretch of our journey, we couldn’t help but feel grateful for the beautiful moments we had shared on the road. The laughter, the bonding, and the little joys of life made this travel experience truly special. The scenic drive had turned into a blissful journey that brought our family closer together.

To make the journey even more enjoyable, we had brought along a variety of homemade snacks. Munching on crispy pakoras, savory sandwiches, and delectable sweets, we created a festive atmosphere within the car. Classic Bollywood tunes played on the stereo, filling the air with nostalgic melodies. Laughter, chatter, and the occasional sing-along transformed the journey into a joyful bonding experience.

The hours flew by as we covered the miles, passing through small towns and villages, witnessing the vibrant tapestry of rural life. The ever-changing scenery kept us engaged, with each bend in the road revealing a new vista to admire.

Finally, as the sun reached its zenith, we arrived at Hampi. The anticipation was palpable as we caught glimpses of ancient ruins and majestic temples amidst the stunning landscape. We couldn’t wait to immerse ourselves in the rich history and architectural wonders that awaited us.
